Meal time troubles

I used to be able to say that I actually likes feeding Nathan, be it milk or solids, but since he turned one, things have become far more challenging, and I certainly do not look forward to meal times, sometimes I even drag it.

He has picked up a really bad habit of spitting his food out. He would keep the food in his mouth and then spit them all out. I try to convince myself that he's not being naughty, he's simply experimenting with his food and find out what his mouth can do. It is hard. He would spit it all out and dirty my whole shirt, floor and table, and he looks like one unrecognizable 'creature' with bits of food smeared everywhere.

Once I got so fed up, I rang LC immediately and asked him to buy a cane back home. I was really thinking of canning him if he pushes his limits too far. But I do wonder if I had the cane in the house then, would I really bare to lift it up on him. Dad consoled me to hold back my anger, give him another week if situation improves, and at the meantime, explore other alternatives.
