From Babe to Tod

That's what made the 1yr old birthday celebration a great one, cos it promotes Nathan's status from a babe to a tod!

Well, when I bring him out in the pram, I still get the remark, 'baby' from passer by, especially when they have kids that are walking. Too bad for him, he's not on his feet yet, and so, still look like a little helpless boy.

We're still very happy with his progress. He eats and sleeps well, gaining weight at a much slower pace now though his appetite has increased. I try to give him chunkier food now, like tiny florets of brocoli mixed into his porridge and pieces of fish. This also means that cooking time has lengthen, and no more puree food. I read a bk that recommends giving kids pass 1 yr old 'chewable' food stuff so that he could work out his gums more rather than simply swallowing whole food down.

I'm also trying to let him self feed, to little success unfortunately. Maybe i started too late, cos he has developed the habit of throwing everything down to the floor, regardless of how nice looking his food may seem. I gave him cheerios, raisins, bite size carrots, he loves smashing them and throwing them about. Oh, what a terrible mess. Can I do without self feed altogether untill he's much older? I think I should hold back for alittle while more.

Nathan's pretty adventurous with walking lately. Holding on to furnitures and walking sideways. When dad's around, we would encourage him to walk from one to the other. He took his first 2 independent steps already. Well done, big boy.

Whenever I wheel him to the park and see how other tods stumble around, I couldn't help myself but give alittle laugh, wishing that I could chase him around soon.
